Friday busy-ness

Kid played horseshoes last night, one of the people on the opposing team was the guy she called the cops on for drunk driving on Tuesday. He didn't say anything to her about it, she was kind of worried, but he was cool about it.

But... a couple of bartenders in town thanked her for doing it! They said he almost hit both of them with his truck a couple of times, and they were glad that someone finally busted him. I'm sure it won't make him quit drinking, but it might make him stop to consider whether or not he should drive. That's not a bad thing!

I got to work this morning at 3:45. There was a lot of bakery to do, along with peanut squares, pies and cookies. It was actually an easy day compared to what I expect tomorrow to be... but since it will be my LAST Saturday, I kind of don't care. Tomorrow is the village-wide rummage sale, and I have cinnamon rolls (like I gave you, yarnsmith) on sale for 75 cents. Last year I sold them for 50 cents, and sold 16 dozen. I'm not sure how many I can sell this year!

I baked buns this morning for a brat fry that is taking place tomorrow. They wanted the buns today to save themselves the fifty cents a dozen we charge to slice the buns... they are going to do the slicing themselves tonight. I really doubt they realize how many buns they actually ordered... I put them in the big bakery crates like bread comes in, double stacked in each crate, and the stack was about five feet tall! They got 35 dozen hard rolls, and 30 dozen brat buns.

I had to also bake the store's bakery, so we were baking until about 8:30 or 9. I have another order for tomorrow for the local Catholic school, who wants 20 dozen hamburger buns, and 35 dozen brat buns. I refused to do both those orders on the same day, which is why I did one of them today. Well, that, and the slicing issue.

CClaus was a bit more talkative today, but quite lazy when it came to doing actual work. I was in the back room, putting the buns in the crates, when she came back to tell me that the people were here to pick up the funeral stuff. She knew where it all was, but she wouldn't get it out of the cooler for them, but told me that since I'd put it all together, it was up to me to get it for them.

I kind of yelled at Man about it, and he wondered why she couldn't get it for them too. I really kind of bitched at him about it and told him that he will have trouble with this after I leave, because NO ONE else will be doing things for her, and she will not like having to pull her own weight. He just nodded his head, and I'll bet he was thinking that he couldn't wait until I left. I can't wait, either.

So I came home, and was vegging on the computer when Kid came home and wanted me to go look at a futon with her, that she wanted for the living room. It was nice, and there was a smaller one with it too. I suggested she use it in one of the corners, and put the smaller one at a 90 degree angle to it... so she bought both of them. We had to come back home and get the van, put the futon in, bring it home, then go back and get the smaller one, put the seats back in, before Kid had to go to work. It only took about 10 minutes for all that!

I was going to go for a walk, but by the time we got home the really dark blue clouds had moved in, and it looked too scary to go walking. I came back in the house, and ten minutes later the sun was shining. It changed about every 15 minutes or so, so I just decided not to go anywhere and sit here on my butt. I wasn't sure if Dude was working or not, so Man is finding his own food. Dude has the night off, so I just gave him some money to find his own meal. I think I have a pot pie in the oven that's calling my name... if not, it will be McD's for me.

And then early to bed again, since there is a ton of bakery for tomorrow again, and I will need to get to work by 4 at the latest. I have all those cinnamon rolls to bake.....

FIVE more days of work! Woot!!

It never ceases to amaze me how CClaus can't see past the end of her nose. Instead of doing what should be her work and then asking for your help if she needs it, she just sits back... The woman has the opportunity to carve a nice little niche for herself while the business is getting used to your absence, but she won't do it. I hope you have your snicker-er in good repair.
